Inside is the gentle, forgiving right that made Gerupuk a household name for learners, and Lombok's most popular wave to surf your first green faces on. It breaks in the eastern corner of the bay in front of Gili Perigi.
The wave
A slow, forgiving take-off into a long tapering right that peels a very long way, the kind of wave where you have time to smile. Gentle enough for first-timers, it still walls up for intermediates working on turns.
Getting there by boat
Boat-access only: a 5–7 minute outrigger to the eastern corner of the bay, breaking in front of Gili Perigi island. The captain drops you in the channel and waits.
Crowds & hazards
Easily the busiest break in the bay, often packed with surf schools and learners, 100+ on a good morning. The seagrass-covered reef makes wipeouts soft, so the real hazard is other surfers and boat traffic. Paddle through to the left to find space.

Is it crowded?+
Very. It's the busiest break in the bay and one of the busiest on the island, mostly beginners and lessons. Dawn is your best shot at space.
Do I need booties?+
No. The reef is covered in soft grass and seagrass, so booties aren't necessary and wipeouts are forgiving.
