Terms of Service
Effective 4 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Jukung (“we”, “us”), the operator of Jukung (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. If you don’t agree with these terms, don’t use the Service.
1. What Jukung is
Jukung is a noticeboard. Surfers post the boat trips they’re already taking in Gerupuk Bay so others heading to the same break can find them. That’s all it does. Jukung is not a booking service, a tour operator, or a transport provider, and it does not arrange or sell boats, seats, or rides. Any real coordination (meeting spot, sharing a boat, splitting cost, and the trip itself) happens directly between you and other users, off-platform (e.g. on WhatsApp). Jukung is not a party to those arrangements and never handles the boat fare.
2. Eligibility & your account
You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service. You sign in with Google, and you may hold only one account. You’re responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your information accurate. If you believe someone else has accessed your account, contact us at support@jukung.app.
3. Lifetime access & payments
Browsing the board is free. Posting your own trips and messaging other surfers require lifetime access: a one-time payment (currently €5) processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Once your payment is confirmed, access is granted to your account and does not expire for as long as the Service operates.
“Lifetime” means the operating lifetime of Jukung, not your lifetime. Your access lasts as long as we offer the Service. If we ever discontinue the Service, section 12 explains what happens, including when you can get a refund. Lifetime access is personal to your account and can’t be transferred or resold.
Because lifetime access is a digital service delivered immediately, payments are generally non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law. If you’re a consumer in the EU or UK, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. By completing the purchase, you expressly request immediate access and acknowledge that you lose this right of withdrawal once access is granted. If something went wrong with your purchase (you were charged twice, or paid but never received access), email support@jukung.app and we’ll make it right.
We may change the price for new purchases at any time. A price change never affects access you’ve already paid for.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post trips that are false, misleading, or spam;
- use the Service to advertise a business or commercial service, including boat charters;
- harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm other users;
- use the Service for anything illegal, or collect other users’ data for unrelated purposes;
- share your account, create multiple accounts, or circumvent a suspension;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service, or bypass its security or payment requirements.
We may remove any content, and suspend or terminate any account, that we reasonably believe breaches these terms.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host and display it within the Service so other users can find it. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies held briefly in routine backups. You’re responsible for what you post and must have the right to share it. You can delete your trips, or your whole account, at any time from your profile.
6. Our intellectual property
The Service itself (its design, code, name, and branding) belongs to Jukung or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these terms. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service except as allowed by law.
7. Assumption of risk
Surfing, boat travel, and meeting people you’ve connected with online all carry inherent risks. Jukung does not verify users, vet boat operators, or supervise any meeting or trip. You are solely responsible for your own safety and decisions, including who you choose to meet, which boats you board, and what you agree to. Use your own judgment and take normal precautions.
8. Third-party services
You sign in with Google, and payments are processed by Stripe. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Coordination between users happens off-platform (e.g. on WhatsApp); we’re not responsible for third-party services or for anything that happens on them.
9. No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t guarantee that trips posted by users are accurate, that anyone will show up, that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that the tide information shown is exact (it is a third-party forecast, not a safety tool). Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jukung is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss or harm arising from your use of the Service, your interactions or arrangements with other users, or any trip, meeting, or boat. To the same extent, our total liability to you for all claims combined is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can’t be excluded or limited by law, including (where applicable) liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from your profile. Deleting your account ends your access, including lifetime access, and no refund is due. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms; if we do, no refund is due. If we ever terminate your paid access without cause (not for a breach, and not a shutdown under section 12), we’ll refund your one-time payment.
12. Discontinuing the Service
Jukung is a small independent project, and we can’t promise it will run forever. We may stop offering the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. If we decide to discontinue the Service, we will:
- give you at least 30 days’ notice by email and in the app before access ends;
- let you export or delete your data during that notice period; and
- refund your one-time payment if you had not yet used the paid features (posting a trip or messaging another surfer) when the shutdown was announced. Once you’ve used the paid features, lifetime access is treated as delivered and remains non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law.
Discontinuing the Service in line with this section is not a breach of these terms. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be waived by agreement.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we’ll update the effective date, give notice in the app, and may ask you to accept the new terms before you continue. Changes don’t apply retroactively. If you don’t agree with an update, stop using the Service and delete your account.
14. Governing law & consumer rights
These terms are governed by the laws of Indonesia. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms takes those away. Disputes arising from these terms are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Indonesia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
15. General
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not assign these terms; we may assign them to a successor who takes over the Service. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
